A recently returned AEW star has shared details of an injury suffered at WrestleDream.

At WrestleDream on October 1st, Sammy Guevara teamed with Will Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita to take on Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Kota Ibushi.

Although Guevara’s team picked up the win, things didn’t quite go to plan for the Spanish God. The former TNT Champion suffered a concussion during the bout and hasn’t wrestled since.

However, Sammy Guevara has been cleared to return for a number of weeks, extending his break to spend time with Tay Melo and their newborn child.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Guevara opened up about how he sustained the injury, and when he realised he needed to take a break.

“I’m cleared, I’m good. That was crazy. You know, I do the cutter so much and then the stupidest things. Oh, this cutter that I do all the time this time just bumped my head on the canvas, and then saw the future. And if you go back there, you can tell like, okay, maybe he’s not good. But I didn’t know at that time. I actually thought that they had a match booked for me that Wednesday, I thought it was good.

And then it was until like, a couple days later. I was like really feeling it. And then Tay contacted the doctor. [Are you dizzy?] No. Just like the lights are bothering me. [Are you throwing up?] No, no, thankfully, it wasn’t like that. But I had a headache and stuff and it was like the lights were bothering me. Like bright lights. Like my future is bright.

But yeah, then they obviously took me off and let me chill and send me to some people to see. But yeah, that was like probably the longest I’ve been out of wrestling so far, it’s been since October 1.”

Sammy Guevara Returns To AEW On Dynamite

Sammy Guevara returned to AEW on the December 27th episode of Dynamite. On the show, Guevara turned his back on Don Callis and the Don Callis Family to realign with Chris Jericho.

In turning his back on the Family, Guevara attacked Callis only to be jumped by his former stablemates, with Jericho running in to make the save. The pair were then attacked by Big Bill and Ricky Starks, only for Sting and Darby Allin to come to their aid.

Guevara will return to the ring at Worlds End, where he’ll team with Sting, Jericho and Darby Allin to take on Big Bill, Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Konosuke Takeshita.
