AEW Star Concussed On Return After 18 Months Out

Tony Khan AEW

One AEW star finally returned to TV after 18 months out of action but that comeback has ended in another injury disaster.

At Ring of Honor Final Battle, Chris Jericho defeated Matt Cardona to retain his ROH World Title but the night was far from done. The Learning Tree’s Big Bill and Bryan Keith continued to attack Cardona after the match before The Most Wanted Bandido made his return to Ring of Honor.

Vignettes featuring Bandido, who has been out of action since June 2023, have aired on AEW TV in recent weeks. The Mexican star took the fight to The Learning Tree as he nailed Big Bill with a kick. Bandido then took to the top rope and nailed Jericho with a dropkick but that move has caused some concern. Bandido clearly hit his head hard on the ring and referees had to check on him before he got up to continue the fight.

AEW’s Bandido Suffers Concussion

Now writing in his Daily Update, Dave Meltzer has noted that Bandido suffered a concussion following his ill-fated dropkick:

We are told Bandido did suffer a concussion Friday night from landing on the back of his head doing a missile dropkick after the Chris Jericho win over Matt Cardona. Obviously Jericho vs. Bandido was scheduled in an ROH title match at some point. With concussions, you don’t know what it means as far as how long someone will be out of action.

Bandido is a former ROH World Champion, having held the gold in 2021 and it seems he’ll be in line for a shot at the gold once again provided he is cleared to compete.
