AEW Star Competes In First Match In 13 Months
One AEW star has finally ended their long injury layoff as they returned to the ring as part of a huge match on Dynamite.
At WrestleDream, Will Ospreay put his AEW International Title on the line against both Ricochet and Konosuke Takeshita after Takeshita put a stop to Ospreay’s one-on-one match with Ricochet previously. That match ended in betrayal as Kyle Fletcher turned on Will Ospreay to gift Takeshita the gold.
Soon after his callous actions, Kyle Fletcher was joined by Don Callis when his old Aussie Open partner Mark Davis made his shock return to AEW. Davis had not been seen in over a year since badly breaking his wrist when Aussie Open lost to FTR at 2023’s WrestleDream.
Davis has so far sided with Ospreay in his feud with his old United Empire teammate that will see Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher clash one-on-one at Full Gear. But on Dynamite in Reading, Mark Davis returned to action after 13 months on the shelf.
Mark Davis Takes The Loss On AEW Return
Davis teamed with Ospreay, Ricochet, and Powerhouse Hobbs in an all-star eight-man tag team match against The Callis Family’s Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, Lance Archer, and Brian Cage. A wild match ensued but it was not a happy comeback for Davis as he succumbed to Takeshita’s Power Drive Knee after being the inadvertent recipient of a Hidden Blade from Will Ospreay to allow Don Callis’ crew to pick up the win.
Whether that loss and the mistake by Ospreay will drive Mark Davis back to his old tag team partner and the conniving clutches of Don Callis remains to be seen.
