AEW Star Comments On Alleged Heat With MVP
Talks of heat between MVP and a fellow AEW star have been overblown.
In the hours before the August 6 episode of AEW Dynamite, it was reported that there was heat between MVP and “Speedball” Mike Bailey.
According to the report, it wasn’t a secret that the pair didn’t see eye-to-eye, and MVP had reportedly made it clear that he didn’t want Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin losing their World Tag Team Championships to Bailey and Kevin Knight.
These details were part of wider claims that suggested the Hurt Syndicate had refused to lose the Tag Team Titles to FTR twice. There was also said to be frustration from others at how the group had been presented.
In a quick backstage segment, MVP and Bailey later poked fun at the report.
At Forbidden Door, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin lost the World Tag Team Championship to Brodido (Brody King and Bandido), in a match also featuring FTR.
Mike Bailey Laughs Off Backstage AEW Reports
In a new interview with 94Wip, Mike Bailey was asked about the supposed heat with MVP, and he said something had been made out of nothing.
“He said ‘f*ck you’ to me, I said ‘f*ck you’ to him. This is pro wrestling. I think it’s very silly to go online, read that these two pro wrestlers do not like each other. ‘Oh man, they hate each other.’ This is a wrestling show.
Kevin and I tried to take the Hurt Syndicate’s tag team championships away from them many times for several months leading up to All In. We hate each other. Of course. Sure. [Laughs]. Why not.
At the end of the day, whatever makes the best show for the audience is what we’re into. If hating each other is part of that, then let’s roll with it.”
Bailey was most recently in action on the August 27 edition of Dynamite, where he teamed with Kevin Knight, Bandido, and Brody King in defeat against Kazuchika Okada, Josh Alexander, Konosuke Takeshita, and Hechicero.
“Speedball” Mike Bailey officially signed with AEW back in February after a three-year spell with TNA. Since then, he’s been joined by fellow former TNA stars Josh Alexander and Ace Austin.
