AEW Star Could Do Better Job As Champion Than MJF

MJF

A rising AEW star has sent a warning to MJF.

Swerve Strickland is coming to the end of an impressive year with AEW, and arguably the most important year of his career. The former WWE star has established himself as a singles star to be reckoned with, a recently picked up a high-profile win over Hangman Adam Page at Full Gear.

Meanwhile, he’s got his eyes on winning the Continental Classic, and the AEW World Championship.

Speaking to News4Jax, Strickland reiterated his desire to become AEW’s first Black World Champion.

“Not just any type of gold. AEW world championship,” said Strickland. “Only to the top and I said in the middle of this year, if I had gotten the opportunities that Hangman Page would’ve gotten my first year, I would have been the first African American AEW world champion. And I do believe that. I can still do that.”

When asked about MJF’s run as champion, Strickland was somewhat unimpressed.

“I think I could do better. Without a doubt. Without a doubt.”

MJF Denies Talk Of New AEW Deal

Speaking in an interview of his own, MJF denied reports that he’s recently signed a new contract with AEW. The World Champion remained adamant that he’ll become a free agent on January 1st, 2024 and he’s open to moving to WWE.

Despite this, he added that he loves AEW and wants to stay.
