AEW Star Announces They’re Now Representing NJPW
A popular AEW star will be representing NJPW moving forward.
It’s been an incredible two days in the career of Konosuke Takeshita as he continues to collect yet more accolades as he continues his march to superstardom.
At Wrestle Kingdom 19, the star defeated Shingo Takagi to win the NEVER Openweight Title, adding the championship to the AEW International Title he won back at WrestleDream.
24 hours after winning the gold, Takeshita made his first successful defence at Wrestle Dynasty where he saw off Tomohiro Ishii in a stunningly hard-hitting encounter. And off the back of that win, it seems the star will be sticking around in NJPW.
Following his victory, it was announced by NJPW that Takeshita would be representing the company from now on.
Konosuke Takeshita has announced that from here on, he will be representing DDT, AEW AND NJPW!
AEW Stars Win Big In Japan
Wrestle Dynasty was a big night for AEW as Kenny Omega made a winning return to the ring with a stunning win over Gabe Kidd. The match, which was Omega’s first since December 2023, quickly devolved into a bloody war with NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi in tears as both men made their way backstage after the final bell.
Earlier in the night, Mercedes Mone became a triple Women’s Champion after beating Mina Shirakawa. In another big win for AEW, The Young Bucks captured the vacant IWGP Tag Team Championship. There was also a win for Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara who retained their ROH World Tag Team Championship with victory over House of Torture.
However, Jack Perry lost out to Yota Tsuji as he looked to win the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship, and Brody King lost out to David Finlay. Willow Nightingale also came up short as she looked to win the first-ever Women’s International Cup.
