AEW Star Accused Of Lying About WWE Talks

Lucha Bros AEW

The future of Penta El Zero and Rey Fenix looks to be decided but it seems one of the AEW stars has been telling lies about their contact with WWE.

After months of speculation, it was reported that Rey Fenix and Penta had either signed with WWE or that an announcement was imminent. The former AEW World Tag Team Champions have been linked with a move for several months, with the pair making little secret of their desire to leave.

But the idea that the Lucha Bros had signed with WWE already has been nixed with a report noting Rey Fenix is still under AEW contract and the transition might not be as smooth as expected.

Penta El Zero Miedo had previously told people of his desire to join WWE and that he and his brother came as a package deal.

AEW’s Penta Says He’s Not Been In Contact With WWE

Now speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Penta is also still under an AEW contract and he suspects the star has been less than truthful about his contact with WWE as a result:

They are under contract to AEW. I remember when I left people were saying Pentagon had signed with WWE and he can’t sign with WWE. Technically he is telling people that he has not talked to them, of course, that’s not true. In a sense if he said he had, that’s tampering, he’s under contract to AEW.

The contract is about to run out and he is going to WWE, that is what’s going to happen. As far as Rey Fenix goes, it’s still up in the air with Tony Khan. I mean, I was told tonight that Rey Fenix has not been told he’s being released or going to be allowed to go and he’s got a year left because of injury time. His contract itself is up at the same time as Pentagon’s would be and they could keep him for another year.
