Will AEW Run All-Women’s Event Like WWE Evolution?
A top AEW star just wants to see the women’s division given a chance to shine.
On July 13, WWE will host its second all-women’s Premium Live Event, Evolution. The event was first held back in 2018, and fans and talent have been calling for it to be brought back ever since.
The show will feature many of WWE’s biggest female stars on a stacked card loaded with legends and title matches.
Evolution will take place just 24 hours after AEW holds its biggest event of the year, All In, in Arlington, Texas. Just two women’s matches have been announced for the stadium show, leading to fans calling for the company to do more to showcase female talent outside of the World Championship.
But does that mean an AEW version of Evolution could be on the way?
Kris Statlander Won’t Push For All-Women’s AEW Show
During an interview on The Battleground Podcast, Statlander was asked whether AEW could run its own all-women’s show. The star said she didn’t know whether such a show is on the horizon, but admitted it isn’t something she’s pushing for.
“I don’t know (if the locker room is pushing for AEW to do an all-women’s show). I think anything is a good option. More wrestling is always great, having the amount of wrestling that we do have right now is wonderful. Getting to showcase as many of the amazing talent that we have, men and women, is awesome.
I am not a person who, you know, tries to lead the charge on many things. I kind of just see where things go because you never know where anything can go. Everything in life is unpredictable.
I think we could all hope for all the girls that work so hard being showcased more and maybe get to something like that but, everything comes with the time, everything has its plan and you know, it is what it is.”
Kris Statlander will be back in action at All In, where she’ll take part in the women’s Casino Gauntlet Match. The former TBS Champion is set to enter the match at number one, with Began Bayne entering at number two.
The winner will earn a shot at the Women’s World Championship. In Texas, “Timeless” Toni Storm is set to defend the title against Mercedes Mone.
