AEW Role For Forgotten WCW Star

One of the forgotten stars of WCW has found a role for themselves in AEW.

Scotty Riggs is best known as one-half of the American Males tag team in WCW alongside Marcus Alexander Bagwell. The Males captured the WCW World Tag Team Championship from Harlem Heat on the third edition of Nitro in September 1995 but only held the gold for nine days.

Riggs remained with WCW until 1999 when he was released by the company and then spent six months in ECW in 2000. Following that stint, Riggs was a part of the short-lived Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling which was owned and operated by the legendary WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.

Scotty Riggs was part of the revived TCW under the ownership of Rhodes’ daughter Teil Margaret which led to his first match in 15 years but it seems he’s also bagged a role with AEW.

Scotty Riggs Working For AEW

On the What Happened When podcast, co-host Conrad Thompson noted to Tony Schiavone that he saw Scotty Riggs backstage at the January 8 AEW Dynamite and Schiavone confirmed Riggs is working with the company:

Yeah, behind the scenes. Scotty’s been with us for, gosh, over six months or so, yeah. I think it’s great that Tony [Khan] and the company gave him a job, let him work for us.

That edition of Dynamite saw rumours swirl that Malakai Black was finished up with AEW. It seems many AEW stars are happy that Malakai Black is finally moving on.
