AEW Star Returns On Dynamite, Why Theme Music Changed

A former championship wrestler in AEW was back on Dynamite with some new theme music.

Hook is a former 3-time FTW Champion in AEW who hasn’t had a match in over four months.

The popular star’s most recent match came on the April 9 episode of Dynamite, where he teamed with Opps leader Samoa Joe to defeat Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta.

It was in June when Hook confirmed that he was out of action due to a concussion.

At AEW Dynamite in Philadelphia, Wheeler Yuta was in the ring doing a promo saying he was from the city, and the crowd didn’t care because they kept on booing him. That’s when Hook made his triumphant return by attacking Yuta and laying him out with the Redrum submission, along with a Superman punch.

Hook Has New AEW Theme Song

What was interesting about Hook’s return is that he has a new theme song. Fightful Select reports that Hook’s theme song is a 1996 song called, “So Tell The Girls That I Am Back In Town” from Jay-Jay Johanson.

It’s a different kind of song compared to what Hook had in the past, when it was an Action Bronson song. Since Bronson took shots at AEW, it upset people within the company. However, there was a point when things were smoothed over. By that point, a decision was made to give Hook a new theme song in AEW.

Fightful added that, going back to January, Hook would make appearances without a song because the rights to his song from Action Bronson had expired, so they were trying to figure out what to do for Hook. That’s why AEW came up with creative ways to involve Hook by bringing him out with other people or having him attack without any theme music.

The city of Philadelphia is home to ECW, where Hook’s dad made his name in pro wrestling and became a World Champion for the promotion. As a result, it holds a special significance for the family. The promotion has already released some Taz-style orange merchandise for Hook’s return as well.
