A veteran AEW contributor plans to return to the company soon.

When Shahid Khan and Tony Khan launched AEW in January 2019, wrestlers like Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) took on prominent roles as Executive Vice Presidents, but they may not have been the most significant hires at the time.

The two most significant hires may have been WWE mainstays like Chris Jericho and Jim Ross, both at the end of their WWE runs and free agents ready to be part of something new.

In AEW’s first few years, Jim Ross was on the call on Dynamite and major PPV events. Sadly, in the last few years, JR has only worked for the company on a reduced schedule while dealing with health issues, including cancer, which JR has beaten on multiple occasions.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross confirmed he’ll be at AEW Dynamite on January 7th, which is the first Dynamite of the year. That show will be in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is JR’s home state.

“I’ll be there. I’ll be in Tulsa. Come join us. It’ll be a hell of a show, just out of old times’ sake and tradition and all that good stuff. It’ll be a night you don’t want to miss. It’ll be a special night.”

AEW’s Jim Ross Gives Positive Health Update

As he continued, the 73-year-old Jim Ross spoke about his recent appearance at the Wrestlecade convention, where he met plenty of great wrestling fans and reminisced with his friends in the wrestling business. While doing so, Ross admitted he was feeling good.

“Man, I’m great. Couldn’t feel—could be better. Feel great. It’s a hell of an event… I’m really glad I went.”

While speaking about the January 7th Dynamite episode again, the WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross spoke positively about his AEW boss, Tony Khan, and what fans can expect on Dynamite.

“I’m sure that Tony Khan will put together a hell of a show. No doubt about it.”
