AEW Responds After New Collision Theme Backlash

Tony Khan AEW

The new theme song for AEW Collision hasn’t gone down well.

Since its launch in June 2023, AEW Collision has opened with the Elton John classic “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.” The 1973 track was a big hit with fans in a world where some feel generic theme songs are taking over.

However, when fans tuned in on July 19th, the song had been replaced by a new track, something that drew immediate anger online.

Interestingly, it was reported on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer that the switch was a cost-cutting measure.

In a post on social media, AEW music producer Mikey Rukus hit back at the criticism.

Hey guys. Its ok. I knew it would be universally hated. Theres no such thing as an upgrade from Elton. Change is inevitable. We tried something different with the college/gogo cadence. I knew many would t get it. Again, it’s ok. I’m happy with it, my team is happy with it. It’s not changing. 🫡

AEW Star Suffers Injury On Collision

In other bad news for AEW, it’s been reported that Skye Blue suffered a broken ankle in her match on Collision with Hikaru Shida.

During the bout, Shida hit a crossbody from the ring apron to the floor, but as she landed on Blue, the latter’s ankle appeared to buckle underneath her. After the star was checked by the referee, the match was waved off, and she was helped backstage by officials.

The following day, Skye Blue was pictured wearing a cast.
