When AEW Really Began Planning Huge MJF/Will Ospreay Feud
MJF and Will Ospreay are set for an all-mighty match at AEW All In and now more about the feud has come to light.
The fuse was lit between MJF and Will Ospreay when MJF turned on Daniel Garcia following his loss to Ospreay on the 3rd of July edition of Dynamite. The real reason Daniel Garcia was written off TV at the hands of MJF has since been revealed but it was Will Ospreay who came to his rescue much to the disgust of the former AEW World Champion.
MJF and Ospreay were expected to clash at All In so eyebrows were raised when they faced each other for Ospreay’s AEW International Championship on the 250th edition of Dynamite. With the one-hour time limit approaching, MJF used his Dynamite Diamond ring to knock out the champion and pin Ospreay for the gold with just 2 seconds left.
Since then MJF has introduced the American Championship to AEW and is already set to defend the gold in matches outside Tony Khan’s company but he knows that if he holds the gold until August 25th he has a rematch with Will Ospreay at All In waiting.
AEW Had Huge Plans For MJF & Will Ospreay
Fightful Select has now reported that Ospreay vs. MJF at All In has been in the works for some time with Will Ospreay being the one suggesting he lost to Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door to nix speculation that would be his All In match for the AEW World Championship.
The match with MJF was said to have been on the cards for months before that but it is uncertain if their one-hour classic on Dynamite was always part of the plans with discussions taking place on having that bout taking place in the weeks leading up to it.
MJF only returned to AEW at Double Or Nothing after five months out but speculation about his future proved to have been unfounded as plans were in place for a feud with Ospreay long before he returned. The American Championship he is now carrying is said to be a temporary move to get more heat on MJF at Wembley Stadium and AEW is continuing to try and elevate the International Title moving forward.
