AEW Re-Sign Star Despite Previous Heated Exit

Tony Khan AEW

One star whose previous time in AEW came to an unpleasant end has revealed that they’ve signed a new deal with Tony Khan’s company.

Lio Rush began competing in AEW once again in May 2024, three years after his first stint in the company came to an end. Rush has been aligned with Top Flight, Action Andretti, and Leila Grey on AEW TV and it seems he’s back to stay.

Rush announced his new deal with Tony Khan’s company in an interview with Alicia Atout but he was quickly interrupted by MVP and Shelton Benjamin who were on the hunt for Khan. MVP and Benjamin could be on the verge of welcoming someone very familiar with Lio Rush to AEW in the coming weeks.

Why Did Lio Rush Leave AEW?

Lio Rush was one of the most high-profile voices who criticised AEW President Tony Khan after his public spat with former AEW star Big Swole.

Rush demanded an apology from Khan on Twitter before later issuing a statement where he explained that he has since spoken to Tony Khan and Megah Parekh and discussed their “endeavours to further understand the struggles of the black community.” He also said that he is proud to work for Khan and AEW.

However, Rush left the company in February 2021 when his contract with AEW expired.
