Ex-WWE Writer Now Working As A Producer For AEW
A veteran wrestling mind has moved on from working for another promotion into an important backstage role for AEW.
Jimmy Jacobs has left Impact Wrestling after six years to take a job working for All Elite Wrestling as a Producer, beginning with the June 14th Dynamite episode in Washington, DC.
It was confirmed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that Jacobs is working for AEW as a Producer now, which means he will help put together matches, promos and segments that will air on television.
Prior to taking the AEW job, Jacobs has worked as part of Impact Wrestling’s creative team since November 2017. Jacobs joined Impact after working for WWE as a writer from March 2015 to October 2017. Jacobs was fired by WWE when he took a photo with The Bullet Club as part of their “Being The Elite” YouTube show.
There was an initial report from Fightful Select that Jacobs may be a part of AEW’s creative team as well, but that hasn’t been confirmed as of yet. Fightful was told that Jacobs was a surprising face in the backstage area with hugs and pleasantries shared with numerous people at the show.
During his WWE career, Jacobs worked with Chris Jericho to create Jericho’s memorable promos featuring “The List” because they came up with the idea together and worked on a lot of those segments together. They will be reunited in AEW now.
Prior to working for wrestling companies in a backstage role, Jacobs was a wrestler from about 1998 to 2015 with many years spent in Ring of Honor. He got to work with a lot of big names there including top WWE stars like Seth Rollins (Tyler Black in ROH), Kevin Owens (Kevin Steen), and Sami Zayn (El Generico) as well as current AEW stars such as Adam Cole, Claudio Castagnoli and numerous others.
