AEW Places “Heavy Restrictions” On Top Star
AEW is taking no chances.
At All In on August 25th, Bryan Danielson will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship. The American Dragon stands on the verge of retirement, at least as a full-time wrestler, and may never get another shot at the title he’s never won.
However, his road to Wembley has been anything but smooth. In a recent backstage interview, Bryan Danielson admitted he’s banged up, and AEW doesn’t want him wrestling before the big day. Interestingly, according to a new report from Fightful Select, that isn’t the star simply posturing for the cameras.
As reported by Fightful, AEW’s medical team has placed some “heavy restrictions” on the star to ensure he makes it to All In. Although his spot in the main event has been planned for months, he’s been taken out of previously agreed spots along the way to preserve his fitness.
With regard to his contract ending on August 1st, the report adds that while this is the case, there are plans for him to appear at numerous dates beyond that. But, crucially, this will be on a part-time basis.
AEW Star Full Of Praise For Bryan Danielson
Ahead of their clash at Wembley, Swerve Strickland has revealed his admiration for Bryan Danielson, stating that he’s the greatest of all time.
The AEW World Champion was quick to point out the task facing him at All In, pointing to Danielson’s impressive CV. However, he warned that this run with the gold has turned him into a “different beast,” adding that Danielson needs to realise what he’s up against.
Danielson earned his shot at Strickland by winning the Owen Hart Cup.
