AEW Pitches To Unify Championships

Tony Khan AEW

There have been pitches to unify some of AEW’s many championships which could be leading to a blockbuster match in the summer.

Kenny Omega returned to AEW at the end of 2024 as he presented Kazuchika Okada with his prize for winning the Continental Classic at World’s End. Omega and Okada are of course rivals from their NJPW days with the pair having a trilogy of matches that are considered among the best ever in the pro wrestling business.

Many fans noted that while Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada came face-to-face, a graphic for All In Texas on July 12 was very visible behind them suggesting they were finally going to clash once again at AEW’s first US stadium show. But there’s plenty of time before that.

Kazuchika Okada is the current AEW Continental Champion while Kenny Omega has the chance to win the AEW International Championship at Revolution when he challenges Konosuke Takeshita for the gold.

AEW Planning Huge Title Unification Match?

Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select has reported that in the last several months there have been “numerous pitches” to unify these titles.

While that is by no means confirmation that it’s in Tony Khan’s plans to do so, a huge winner-take-all match between Okada and Omega could be a huge draw. But Konosuke Takeshita, and the villainous Don Callis, will surely have something to say about that.
