AEW Original Rules Out WWE Return

Tony Khan AEW

One AEW star has hit back at suggestions they should return to WWE, noting how happy they are in their current role.

Back in September 2024, it was reported that Dustin Rhodes’ AEW contract was set to expire before the end of the month. Despite this, Rhodes continued to feature on television. The veteran has been with the company since 2019 but has spent most of 2024 wrestling on Rampage and in Ring of Honor.

Speculation about his status increased drastically after Cody Rhodes sensationally quit AEW before returning to WWE where he has since become Undisputed WWE Champion. Dustin Rhodes has expressed how proud he is of his younger brother but the former WWE Intercontinental Champion also ruled out ever facing Cody Rhodes again. The two men had one of the most lauded matches of all time at AEW’s first-ever show, 2019’s Double Or Nothing.

Dustin Rhodes Happy In AEW

Dustin Rhodes has since signed a new multi-year deal with AEW at the age of 55 meaning he’s likely to finish his in-ring career in Tony Khan’s promotion. Despite this, some fans still call for Rhodes to make his return to WWE but taking to social media, Rhodes has ruled that out:

No! I am happy where I am at.

Currently, Dustin Rhodes holds two titles under Tony Khan’s umbrella as he’s ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champion with The Von Erichs and ROH Tag Team Champion with Sammy Guevara as The Sons of Texas.
