A former AEW star has been struck down by illness.

Joey Janela might be best known for his time in AEW, but the star has been a staple on the independent scene for well over 15 years, turning out for the likes of GCW, CZW, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla among others.

However, Janela admits his upcoming schedule is looking “uncertain” after being admitted to the hospital.

In a post on social media, Janela revealed he’s laid up in hospital with gallstone pancreatitis.

Well I’ve been in pain for quite a while, worst the past couple days along with insane vomiting. I braved through it to do a something at the limp bizkit concert and today had to check into a hospital. Turns out I have , my August schedule is uncertain for the time being, and bills gonna be through the roof. I’ll be trying to get some merch out there, should be in here for a minute.

Joey Janela Was One Of AEW’s First Signings

After more than a decade on the independent scene, Janela signed with AEW in January 2019.

The star went on to wrestle the likes of Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, and Jungle Boy, but as the years passed he found TV harder and harder to come by. In May 2022, Janela allowed his All Elite contract to expire before going on to compete for the likes of DDT Pro-Wrestling in Japan.

In an interview back in May 2023, Joey Janela revealed it remains his dream to work for WWE, although he had goals to accomplish before making the move.
