AEW’s Original All In Plans For Kenny Omega Revealed
Kenny Omega nearly had a huge match at AEW All In.
Back in late May, it was reported that Kenny Omega had undergone surgery as he continued his battle with diverticulitis. The former AEW World Champion was diagnosed with the illness back in December but had hoped to avoid going under the knife.
Omega hasn’t wrestled since defeating Ethan Page on December 5th at a taping for AEW Collision. The match was broadcast four days later.
However, in recent weeks it’s been reported that Kenny Omega is planning to resume his career in AEW.
Kenny Omega Would Have Challenged For Championship Gold
As the card for All In begins to take shape, it’s been reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that AEW originally hoped Omega would face Kazuchika Okada at the event.
Obviously the hope was Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega for the Continental title. Omega underwent surgery on 5/16 and the usual recovery period is four months, so in theory he’s going to fall a few weeks short of making it. And his health situation was far worse than most who have hernia surgery. He’s also a pro wrestler and you never know. There has been no teasing of Omega at all in recent weeks.
Omega and Okada have long been tipped to wrestle in AEW after a legendary series of matches in Japan before the company launched.
