AEW To More Than Double Their Money In New WBD Deal

Tony Khan AEW

A new US TV deal for AEW is coming imminently and now details about Tony Khan’s agreement with Warner Bros Discovery have come to light.

AEW is currently involved in talks with Warner Bros Discovery regarding a new media rights deal. The company’s current deal expires in 2024 and the situation has created wave after wave of speculation over the future of Tony Khan’s shows on TBS and TNT.

According to a report from Fightful Select, WBD recently made another offer for the promotion’s long-term media rights. The offer reportedly came after Tony Khan and WBD boss David Zaslav met in Paris during the Olympics.

The offer is said to be “extensive,” and currently in AEW’s hands under review. Both parties are optimistic that a deal will be made, although there’s no news on when an announcement could be made. However, Tony Khan seems very optimistic that an agreement is coming and he’s got every reason to be happy about it.

New AEW Deals Sees Huge Revenue Increase

John Ourand at Puck has reported that AEW’s new deal with Warner Brothers Discovery looks to be for four years with the first three guaranteed and the fourth an option year. The ballpark figure of $170 million per year has been given with AEW programming to air twice a week on TBS, TNT, and TruTV. An official announcement could come as soon as next week unless any last-minute changes emerge.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics has valued AEW’s current TV deal to be worth $70 million per year which would represent an increase of over 140%. Although Thurston cautions that as this deal apparently points to more content being shown it is difficult to ascertain a like-for-like comparison.
