AEW’s Mercedes Mone Names Her Mount Rushmore Of Opponents
Mercedes Mone has four names in mind when she thinks about the greatest opponents in her pro wrestling career.
For more than a decade, Mercedes Mone has been a household name in pro wrestling from her days in WWE as Sasha Banks to her current run as the TBS Champion & NJPW Strong Women’s Champion in AEW.
During her outstanding career, Mone has been in the ring with some of the best women’s wrestlers in WWE while also facing some top stars in Japan and many great wrestlers in AEW as well.
While appearing on Truth or Dab: Rapid Fire (via First We Feast), Mercedes Mone was asked about her Mount Rushmore of opponents she has wrestled. That means picking four wrestlers that stand out to her as some of her best opponents. For her list, Money picked three women from WWE while adding a fourth from AEW.
“That’s hard for me because I’ve wrestled some of the best in the world. Number one I think is easily Bayley. We’ve made so many historic moments and matches together. Number two might have to be Charlotte Flair. She has given me my greatest matches, my worst matches, all in between. Three, I might have to go with Willow Nightingale.”
“Last but not least, I might have to choose Bianca [Belair] because of our history-making moment at WrestleMania 37, when we main-evented, something that I’m gonna remember for the rest of my life.”
The history-making moment that Mone was referring to at WrestleMania 37 in 2021 was that her match with Belair was the first time that two black women main evented a WrestleMania.
Mercedes Mone’s Ally Kamille Set For Huge AEW Dynamite Match
As the TBS Champion in AEW and the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, Mercedes Mone has had a lot of success in the ring. Part of the reason for her success is because she has the “brickhouse” Kamille watching her back as an ally.
Kamille has had issues with Kris Statlander of late, so the two powerful women will have a match on the October 30th episode of AEW Dynamite which is being called Fright Night. It’s certainly possible that if Statlander wins, she could be coming after the TBS Title that Mone has.
