AEW Star Mercedes Moné Wins 9th Championship Ahead Of Forbidden Door
Nine belts Mercedes Mone is in full effect.
During 2025, Mercedes Mone has been on the run of a lifetime, and she shows no sign of slowing down.
In the run-up to Forbidden Door, Mone has been wrestling almost every night as she looks to cement her place as the best women’s wrestler in the world. This whirlwind streak has also seen her capture another championship.
After teaming with Athena on the August 20 edition of Dynamite, she beat Emersyn Jayne to claim the Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship. 24 hours later, she was back in the ring to team with Dani Luna, Kanji, and she’s due to compete at Forbidden Door on August 24.
As a result of her win over Jayne, Mone now holds nine championship belts, with seven of them currently active. The star is the proud owner of the AEW TBS Championship, CMLL Women’s World Championship, Rev Pro’s Undisputed British Women’s Championship, and the Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship.
She also holds titles for independent promotions in Italy, Poland, and Austria.
Mone’s collection includes the inactive Queen of Southside title, which was unified with the Undisputed British title, and the belt she received for winning the 2025 Owen Hart Cup.
Mercedes Mone Dismisses Talk Of Creative Control
Given Mone’s run as the ‘belt collector’ and the fact she’s only lost once in AEW since joining the company, rumours of creative control have been running wild. This is despite several reports and AEW boss Tony Khan himself suggesting those claims are false.
In a new interview, Mercedes Mone also denied the claims, stating that she works with whoever Khan wants her to work with. The star went on to describe the company’s women’s division as the best in the world.
Mercedes Mone will be in action at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where she’s set to defend the TBS Championship against Alex Windsor, Bozilla, and Persephone.
