AEW Match Featuring Kazuchika Okada Considered A “Mess”
A recent match involving AEW star Kazuchika Okada didn’t quite go to plan.
On the June 22nd episode of Collision, the relationship between AEW and CMLL continued. On the show, which was taped on June 20th, Kazuchika Okada took on and defeated Ultimo Guerrero.
However, it seems the match didn’t go off smoothly. Reporting via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter daily update, Dave Meltzer shared that problems plagued the match. Guerrero was advertised as wearing a mask for the match — despite having lost his in a bout a decade ago. This created a scramble to find a mask for him to wear, and it repeatedly came off during the match.
The Collision main event of Kazuchika Okada vs. Ultimo Guerrero was a total mess according to multiple people who saw it. Guerrero, who lost his mask ten years ago to Atlantis in a very famous match, found out that AEW had promoted him with a mask.
He hadn’t brought one. So they had to scramble to find one and ended up with one that kept falling off during the match. We were told it was very lucky this didn’t air live. (thanks to The Cubs Fan)

Elsewhere on the show, Will Ospreay successfully defended his International Title against Brian Cage, and the duo of Toni Storm and Mariah May picked up another win. Meanwhile, Samoa Joe challenged Chris Jericho and the Learning Tree to a match at Forbidden Door. Joe will again team with Hook and Katsuyori Shibata.
