A legendary wrestler who was at a big AEW match didn’t care for what he saw.

The first-ever Women’s Blood & Guts match took place on the November 12th edition of AEW Dynamite. Blood & Guts is the company’s version of the WarGames match, with two rings surrounding two teams in a match that can only end by submission or giving up.

Normally, a Blood & Guts or WarGames match involves either 8 wrestlers or 10 wrestlers, but for whatever reason, AEW felt like 12 women needed to be part of this 6-on-6 match.

In the first Women’s Blood & Guts match, several women were bloody throughout the match, and a lot of weapons were used. Skye Blue in particular stood out because she was bleeding heavily from the face for the majority of the 46-minute match.

The heel team of Triangle of Madness (Julia Hart, Skye Blue, and Thekla), Megan Bayne, Marina Shafir, and Mercedes Moné defeated Jamie Hayter, Mina Shirakawa, Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron, “Timeless” Toni Storm, and Kris Statlander when Storm quit for Shirakawa.

Ricky Steamboat Wasn’t A Fan Of AEW Blood & Guts Involving The Women

During the Blood & Guts edition of AEW Dynamite, there was also a segment where FTR were rude to WWE Hall of Famer and former NWA World Champion, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. AEW Tag Team Champions Brodido made the save for Steamboat before things got physical.

Legendary reporter Bill Apter interviewed Ricky Steamboat, and the Dragon was critical of the Women’s Blood & Guts Match.

“God bless those girls, you know, that were in that match, but I didn’t care for it. I don’t know if it was just too much. I thought personally, they had 16 girls in there or something like that, there’s just too much going on. You know, over in this one corner two girls are doing something, some you know two or three girls doing something in the middle of the ring, then you go to the other ring and two or three girls are doing something.

You couldn’t focus on anything because there was just so much going on, and for me, it’s hard to react.”

Steamboat was also critical of other matches at the show.

“I watched the opening matches, and I think those two matches, they might have had two warm-up matches before they aired. Yeah. And I didn’t like the work – much less of not having much ring psychology, but it was very, very loose to me, and it’s maybe because of me being able to look from the outside looking in and knowing what I know. It looked too choreographed.”
