AEW Losing Confidence In Re-Signing Star

Tony Khan AEW

AEW are still hoping to re-sign one of their stars but with WWE also making overtures, that hope is starting to fade.

In recent months it’s become something of an open secret that WWE has an interest in Daniel Garcia. It’s widely believed that the AEW star’s contract is set to expire in October, and he’s yet to sign an extension.

Garcia returned to AEW TV after being written off in an injury angle by MJF to fight the former AEW World Champion at All Out. It has been widely reported that Garcia would have won that match if he’d re-signed with AEW but MJF picked up the win and Garcia has disappeared from TV again as uncertainty continues to build around his future.

Daniel Garcia Still Not Re-Signed With AEW

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer touched on Daniel Garcia’s absence and confirmed AEW is waiting to see if he’ll re-sign before featuring him again and their confidence in that happening is starting to wane:

I don’t think that they want to put him on TV until he makes the commitment. I would say that the surety or the strong confidence that he was signing, I wouldn’t say it’s as strong. But I wouldn’t say he’s leaving either, but it’s not as strong as it was a month ago. He may leave.

WWE is also hoping to land a pair of former AEW Tag Team Champions but it seems their exit from AEW might be more complicated than first thought.
