AEW To Lose Popular Tag Team If Title Win Never Comes

Tony Khan AEW

One AEW tag team could be heading for a split after a seed was planted on Dynamite that could have major ramifications.

At WrestleDream, Private Party ran The Young Bucks extremely close as they challenged for the AEW Tag Team Championship. Ultimately, Zay and Quen couldn’t do what they managed in the first weeks of AEW by beating The Bucks as Matthew and Nicholas Jackson retained their gold.

The fact Private Party were back in the title scene at all was something of a surprise as the team has floundered in the company for years now but with a renewed focus, they’re getting back to their best. With that in mind, and with a close run thing at WrestleDream spurring them on, they were looking for another shot at the gold.

Private Party Set To Split In AEW?

However, that doesn’t work for The Young Bucks. On Dynamite in San Jose, Matthew Jackson accepted the pair were not a mid-card act as he previously intimated and gave them credit for their performance. But The Bucks turned down another title match as Nicholas Jackson told the pair that the match was their last shot at the AEW Tag Team Championship.

Things took even more of a turn when Stokely Hathaway entered the scene, looking to cause his own little slice of chaos. Hathaway told Private Party they should split up the next time they challenge for the gold and lose before spicing the matter up by pointing out that Zay is the singles star anyway. Quen looked disturbed by the sensation but Zay uttered “If that’s what it takes” signalling that the end could be near for the team if they don’t find success.
