AEW Preparing To Lose Another Major Star For Several Months
Will Ospreay was stretchered away from AEW Forbidden Door, but the company is preparing to lose another top star for months as well.
Will Ospreay warned everyone that he needed surgery to deal with issues in his neck and back following his All In Texas tag team victory over The Young Bucks. Ospreay had teamed with Swerve Strickland to defeat the Bucks and in the process, strip them of their EVP status in the company.
Despite seemingly suffering from a serious injury, Ospreay surprised everyone when he targeted Forbidden Door for a comeback. Ospreay ended up competing in a huge lights out steel cage match as he led an AEW and NJPW contingent of himself Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Darby Allin, and Hiroshi Tanahashi to victory over the Death Riders and the Young Bucks.
After the match, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli attacked Ospreay, ensuring he was trapped inside the cage while they delivered devastating blows to his neck. Will Ospreay left the arena in London on a stretcher as serious concern over his health mounted.
But it seems he’s not the only AEW star set to miss time from the ring.
Swerve Strickland On AEW’s Injured List?
Fightful Select has given the latest update on Swerve Strickland, who himself suffered a shock attack at Forbidden Door as well. The report noted that AEW were preparing for the possibility that Strickland could miss a number of months from the company as he possibly requires surgery in the coming weeks.
It is believed that Swerve Strickland is suffering from a meniscus injury in his knee.
There has been some good news in regards to missing and injured stars in the last week for AEW. Killswitch made his return on Dynamite to replace Nick Wayne in a tag team bout against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at Forbidden Door. The PPV saw Wardlow make his long-awaited return to AEW as well as Jamie Hayter make her comeback from injury.
