AEW Locker Room “A Family” Claims Major Star
Life in AEW is like being with family.
Since signing with AEW in November 2023, Mariah May has quickly established herself as one of the biggest female stars in the company. Her rapid rise has seen her win the women’s Owen Hart Cup, earning a shot at Women’s World Champion Toni Storm at All In.
May and Storm had formed a formidable partnership but the former turned on Storm after winning the Owen Hart Cup, leaving her a bloody mess.
Prior to becoming All Elite, May enjoyed a successful run in Stardom, where she won tag team gold with Mina Shirakawa.
In a new interview with the Daily Star, May compared her current home to the locker rooms she’s been part of in the past.
“I loved them all. Stardom is my family, AEW is my family. In both of them, I’ve been a foreigner. I know we both speak English, but I’m technically a foreigner, and I feel like they’ve both looked after me so much. I don’t have family or friends and they’re so sweet. They’ve taken me in as their own.
Japan is a real sisterhood, they’re a little bit younger so its kind of like school in a way. Whereas I feel AEW is a family, you have your mums and your dads, you’ve got people from so many walks of life and doing so many different things. It’s huge, there’s so many different people there. You have brothers and sisters. A real family. It’s lovely there,”
AEW Under The Microscope
The comments from May come after it was revealed there was recently a backstage altercation involving Britt Baker, Alicia Atout, and MJF.
Baker was fined and suspended following the incident where it’s claimed she was running down MJF. These comments reportedly found their way back to the former World Champion via his partner Alicia Atout. This sparked an altercation between Baker and MJF, with the latter later punching a wall.
The pair had previously been friends, but it’s believed they fell out sometime during the last 12 months.
It’s been announced Britt Baker will be back on AEW television on August 7th. The star is currently preparing to face Mercedes Mone for the TBS Title at All In.
