AEW Legend Bids Heartbreaking Goodbye To Fans: “I Love You”

Sting celebrates at Revolution blur AEW logo

A bona fide legend in AEW has bid an emotional goodbye to fans.

Sting competed in the final match of his legendary career back at Revolution when he teamed with Darby Allin to defeat The Young Bucks and retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship. That gave The Icon a perfect, undefeated record in AEW, and gave the fans a chance to celebrate the career of Sting.

Since then, Sting made a shock return to the company to help out his old partner, Darby Allin, at WrestleDream as he defeated Jon Moxley. Away from the ring, the WWE Hall of Famer has been continuing to meet fans on the convention circuit, but he made clear that he’s now made his final appearance wearing his famous face paint.

Former AEW Star Sting Says Goodbye

Speaking to Denise Salcedo, Sting discussed how he felt knowing that he won’t be travelling the country and donning his paint anymore, admitting his final signing with his signature look left him with a bittersweet feeling:

I don’t know how to sum it up into words, but the undercurrent is definitely there. Bittersweet, for sure. I’ll be glad to get off the airplanes and trains and automobiles. But I will miss the people for sure. Absolutely. Not just the roar of the crowd wrestling, but these meet and greets, you know, the one-on-ones and the storytime telling. It’s amazing to hear everything that fans have to say. And they’re just so appreciative and grateful. And so am I.

I just want to say thank you. I love you, all of you. I do believe that we’ve had a love affair going on for many decades now, and I will miss all of you for sure. But there’ll be little bits and pieces here with AEW, I’m sure, down the road. Love you all. Thank you.
