Why AEW Is Keeping A Tight Lid On PPV Dates In 2025
WWE has reportedly played a role in AEW’s decision to keep its 2025 pay-per-view schedule under wraps.
Early last year, Tony Khan’s AEW announced its full 2024 PPV schedule with dates all the way up to World’s End that December. However, this year, the company has been more cautious with the information, with details yet to be given for major shows including Double or Nothing, WrestleDream, and Full Gear.
In the case of Double or Nothing, which normally takes place in May, Fightful Select has now reported that there has been a “major discussion” in the promotion about moving the event from its usual home of Las Vegas due to WWE running WrestleMania in the city the month prior.
The report also notes that WWE’s decision to run a live event in Orlando, Florida on the same date as World’s End in the same city in 2024 has led to AEW delaying announcements on future pay-per-view events.
Major AEW Show Going Head-To-Head With WWE
The company’s fears may be justified, as earlier in January it was revealed that the July edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will go head-to-head with AEW All In. All In is the promotion’s biggest event of the year, this time moving from London, England, to the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Not only that, but another episode of SNME is set for the Saturday of Memorial Weekend, the same time of year that Double or Nothing is normally held. It remains to be seen if the date will cause any further alterations to the company’s schedule.
