AEW’s Jon Moxley Vows To Wrestle As Long As Possible
Jon Moxley is going to wrestle until the wheels fall off.
On-screen, John Moxley is on a mission to destroy AEW and build it up again from nothing in his own image and that of the Death Riders.
This has seen the faction take out Bryan Danielson and assault just about everyone they come into contact with. As the war engulfed the company, Moxley captured the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream to leave him in the top spot.
Moxley will turn 40 before the end of 2025, and he’s put his body on the line in the name of pro wrestling in some of the most extreme ways imaginable. But that doesn’t mean he’s got any intention of slowing down.
During an appearance on the KiddChris Show, Moxley dismissed any notion of retirement, vowing to wrestle for as long as possible.
“If you’re not working, then what are you doing? I don’t think I’m one of those people who just retires and hangs out. I feel you need to be of service and do things. I’m fortunate to have a good spot in this line of work and what I can contribute.
My body is still working pretty well. I’m world champion right now. You can’t get any higher than that. It’s only downhill from here. I’m going to do it until I can’t do it anymore. Until such a time is not prudent to get in the ring anymore. Until I can’t,”
Jon Moxley To Defend AEW World Title
At Dynamite Maximum Carnage, Jon Moxley will put his AEW World Championship on the line against Powerhouse Hobbs. The challenger earned the right to face Moxley after winning a Casino Gauntlet Match on January 8th. Hobbs has lost just once since returning to action in November 2024 following a serious knee injury — an injury he suffered in a match against Moxley that April.
Elsewhere, MVP will make his in-ring AEW debut when he teams with Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley to face Private Party and Mark Briscoe.
