AEW Hoped Absent Star Would Already Be Back In Action
AEW Double or Nothing nearly looked a little different.
Back in 2024, Darby Allin was poised to climb Mount Everest, but those plans were dashed by a broken foot. This meant that the face-painted star was forced to postpone the attempt, as well as miss some time in the ring.
Fast forward one year, and Darby Allin has set an unusual world record as he finally gets to make the climb.
While Allin is loving life and his latest extracurricular project, fans have missed his presence as Jon Moxley, and the Death Riders have done their best to take over AEW. Allin is one of the most popular stars in the promotion, and arguably embodies the All Elite spirit more than anyone, but the storyline has continued without him.
But could Allin soon be back to make the save?
AEW Forced To Change Plans For Darby Allin
It was reported back in January that AEW hoped Allin would be back with the company in the Spring, but that timeline has proven to be a little optimistic.
A further report from Fightful Select has noted that originally, there was a feeling the former TNT Champion could be back in time for the Owen Hart Cup. This would have seen him featured at Double or Nothing on May 25, when the finals of the tournament are being held.
However, Fightful has been unable to get an official update since then. Typically, it can take between six and ten weeks to climb Everest, and Allin’s attempt began six weeks ago.
