AEW Drops Another Hint Malakai Black Is Done With The Company

Malakai Black entrance AEW Dynamite

Another AEW star has seemingly begun their move away from Malakai Black.

On the January 8th edition of AEW Dynamite, Buddy Matthews came up short against Will Ospreay. After the match, Ospreay praised Matthews and Brody King, telling them to leave their roles in the House of Black behind.

Many took this as a sign Malakai Black could be leaving the company, and it was later reported that those within AEW didn’t expect him back. Furthermore, it’s been reported that WWE creative expects Black to re-sign with the company when he becomes a free agent in February or March.

Although there’s been no official comment from Black or AEW, the company has given another hint that he won’t be back.

Another Star Is Distanced From Malakai Black

During the January 11th episode of Collision, Adam Copeland interrupted an interview between Lexy Nair and Brody King. The veteran outlined his respect for King, Julia Hart, and Buddy Matthews. Again, there was no mention of Black.

“We’ve been through a lot, but I hope you know that at the end of all of it, I respect you. I respect you [Julia]. I respect Buddy. I think you have the world of potential at your feet. I know what you bring to the table. Man, I felt it. I wanted us to be a group. But tell you what, it’s time for you to take the reins and run.”

During a recent interview, Julia Hart paid tribute to Malakai Black but claimed no one knows anything about his future. Hart said she’s happy for the star no matter what, and that the House of Black will be okay.

Black wrestled for WWE between 2016 and 2021, while his wife Zelina Vega is a regular on Monday Night Raw.
