AEW “Heavily Interested” In Former WWE Champion
A former WWE star could be heading to AEW.
After taking part in the 2018 Mae Young Classic, Isla Dawn became a key part of NXT UK before moving to NXT in the United States.
The Scottish star went on to team with Alba Fyre, and the pair captured the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship. The duo, known as the Unholy Union, went on to repeat the feat on the main roster, claiming the Women’s Tag Team Championship at Clash at the Castle: Scotland.
However, Dawn was somewhat surprisingly released by WWE in February 2025, while Fyre remained on SmackDown.
Since her departure, Dawn has largely stayed out of the spotlight, but according to a new report from Wrestle Votes, she could be back on television very soon. As noted in the report, AEW holds major interest in securing her signature, and she was backstage at a recent taping.
“We have learned through sources that AEW is heavily interested in recently released talent, Isla Dawn,” the report said. “So much so, according to one source, she was recently backstage at an AEW taping… the expectation is that she will begin working AEW shows in the very near future.”
Britt Baker To Stay With AEW
Reports on AEW’s interest in Isla Dawn come after it was claimed that Britt Baker won’t be leaving the company and hasn’t been seeking to break her contract.
Baker hasn’t wrestled for the promotion since November 2024, and as her absence has continued, so has the speculation that she’s looking to leave. This speculation reached fever pitch on July 2 when it was reported that Baker was actively trying to get out of her contract. A move that it’s believed would instantly draw interest from WWE.
However, several AEW sources later denied that Britt Baker wanted to leave. The report added that Baker remains under contract for well over another year, and could even be tied to the company until 2027 due to injury time added on.
The former Women’s World Champion signed her most recent extension in late 2021.
