Why AEW’s “Hangman” Adam Page Feels It’s Important To Be Authentic

Ahead of AEW All In Texas, “Hangman” Adam Page has explained how he views himself as a major player in AEW.

The Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Finals took place at May’s AEW Double or Nothing with “Hangman” Adam Page and Will Ospreay. The two men went on to have an outstanding match that will be remembered forever by AEW fans, as Hangman got the big win to earn an AEW World Title match at All In Texas.

In the build-up to All In Texas, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley did his best to play mind games with Adam Page by saying that Page couldn’t handle it mentally and that Moxley is the man who is meant to be the World Champion.

It’s been a fascinating journey for Hangman over the last two years, as he has evolved as a character, transitioning from a man with personal issues related to Swerve Strickland, but he has been able to overcome those issues and thrive in the ring.

As an AEW original who has been with the company since its launch in January 2019, Page is a former AEW World Champion and Tag Team Champion, and was recently dubbed AEW’s “main character” by Swerve. This is something that The Young Bucks have also mentioned in recent interviews.

“Hangman” Adam Page Wants To Be Authentic On AEW TV

While speaking with Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated, Hangman discussed his mindset as an AEW wrestler.

“It is my primary goal. My primary focus is to be as authentically me as I can be with the end goal in mind of resonating to our audience. That’s what I enjoy, that’s what I like about this. That’s what I think is ultimately best for any kind of art, right? You could consider, in many ways wrestling as an art.

To be genuine, to be authentic, I think that creates the most important art. I think it creates the most important line of thinking, not just for me but for viewers as well, the shared line of thinking. I just think that’s important.”
