AEW Gets Its Way In Ryan Nemeth Lawsuit
AEW and Tony Khan have got their way as a lawsuit filed by current TNA star Ryan Nemeth takes its latest twist.
CM Punk was fired by Tony Khan in 2023 after a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In London. That was far from Punk’s first backstage issue in the company. He was suspended in September 2022 following his infamous fight with The Young Bucks after his explosive comments at a press conference after All Out.
Ryan Nemeth has alleged he was confronted by Punk after he returned following suspension in the summer of 2023 in a lawsuit filed against Punk, AEW, and Tony Khan.
AEW and Tony Khan responded to the suit seeking to compel Ryan Nemeth into private arbitration. The petition states that Nemeth signed three contracts with AEW dated March 1 2021, January 17 2022, and March 1 2023 respectively. It is noted that each of these contracts contains identical arbitration clauses that mandate disputes should be settled in Duval County, Florida, under JAMS, Inc. arbitration rules.
And it seems All Elite Wrestling has got its way.
Ryan Nemeth & AEW Going To Arbitration
POST Wrestling has now reported that Nemeth’s attorney Mike Caspino has confirmed that the suit will now be heading to arbitration:
There has been no settlement. The parties have agreed to submit the matter to arbitration.
With the case now heading to arbitration Nemeth voluntarily dismissed his suit while AEW dismissed their motion to compel arbitration. Both of these dismissals were made “without prejudice” meaning that they could be revived in court again at any time.
