AEW Forced To Abandon Australia Stadium Show

Tony Khan AEW

Following slow ticket sales, AEW has been forced to abandon plans for a huge stadium show in favour of a much smaller venue.

On the pre-show for All In in August, AEW announced that Grand Slam was heading to the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia on February 15th 2025. The stadium is home to the NRL’s Brisbane Broncos and the A-League’s Brisbane Roar, boasting a capacity of 52,500. The stadium attendance record is currently held by Ed Sheeran who filled the venue with 59,185 fans.

This is due to be AEW’s first foray Down Under but news on the event has been thin on the ground amid suggestions that ticket sales have been very slow. And now it’s been relocated to a much smaller venue.

AEW Now Running Brisbane Entertainment Centre

WrestleRadio AU posted an email confirming the relocation to social media noting that AEW Grand Slam Australia will now be taking place in the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 15th 2025.

The BEC has a capacity of just over 13,500 thousand but the AEW show will now come smack bang in the middle of concerts by Bryan Adams and Billie Eilish. The Brisbane Entertainment Centre now has Grand Slam listed on its website.

This is something of an embarrassing climbdown for Tony Khan’s company after selling over 120,000 tickets for Wembley Stadium over the past two years. However, one report on the subject has revealed just how poor AEW’s TV audience is in Australia which might explain the very slow ticket sales.
