AEW Figures Don’t Expect Chris Jericho To Return
Chris Jericho’s departure from AEW is inching ever closer.
On the April 9 edition of Dynamite, Chris Jericho addressed his loss of the ROH World Championship days earlier at Dynasty. This involved hitting out at Learning Tree teammates Big Bill and Bryan Keith, who also lost the event.
The segment ended with the veteran smashing the Learning Tree set with a baseball bat before leaving.
While it was initially believed that Jericho would only be absent until his latest tour with his rock band Fozzy was over, he has yet to return to television. Furthermore, there are now suggestions that he may never be back.
Chris Jericho’s AEW Run Appears To Be Over
In recent days, Chris Jericho hinted for the first time that he’d be open to returning to WWE. The star got the ball of speculation rolling after liking a social media post about leaving AEW and heading back to the company.
This was followed by a report that noted there was a lot of talk within WWE about the star, although another update suggested his name hadn’t been brought up in creative circles.
However, the most recent update on the sports entertainment giant’s plans claimed that several Superstars are hoping Chris Jericho comes in. His contract expires in December 2025, meaning, at least in theory, that he could appear in the 2026 Royal Rumble.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer gave an update on the situation from the AEW side, noting that people within the company don’t expect Jericho back before his contract expires.
Meltzer added that while specifics aren’t in place, WWE expects Jericho to return to the company.
Jericho wrestled his last match for WWE came at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia on April 27, 2018. However, by that point, he’d already all but left the company after his full-time run came to an end in the previous July.
