AEW Figure Wishes CM Punk Never Left For WWE

CM Punk As Their:

CM Punk is missed in AEW.

On August 20th, 2021, CM Punk made one of the most unlikely returns in wrestling history. After an acrimonious exit from WWE in 2014 it was widely believed Punk would never wrestle again, but all that changed on one wild night in Chicago.

However, what was meant to be a celebration turned sour via a series of backstage disputes which resulted in him being fired in September 2023.

Despite the controversy that surrounded Punk’s AEW run, Jim Ross wishes the star was still with the company. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross revealed he remains in contact with Punk and thinks he contributed greatly to AEW while he was there.

“I get text messages from him on a somewhat frequent basis because he’s just checking on me to see how I’m feeling,” Ross said. “He likes me and he respects me, and it’s reciprocal … I miss CM Punk. I thought he contributed greatly to the AEW roster when he was with us. To be perfectly candid, I wish he still was. How do you not want a talent the level of CM Punk not still with your company? It, personality-wise, just did not work out, and that’s unfortunate.”

When Will CM Punk Wrestle Again?

CM Punk made a stunning return to WWE at Survivor Series in 2023, but his big comeback hasn’t quite played out as planned. In his first televised match, the star suffered a torn triceps in the men’s Royal Rumble match, although he’s remained a regular on-screen tormenting Drew McIntyre.

According to the most recent report on his progress, CM Punk won’t be cleared to get back in the ring for WWE Money In The Bank. However, he’s expected to be back in action for SummerSlam where he’s rumoured to be facing McIntyre.

Punk has been announced for the June 21st episode of SmackDown.
