Popular AEW Figure Wants To Stay For Years To Come
An AEW favourite is going nowhere.
After several months of speculation, claims, and counter-claims, it was announced on October 2nd that All Elite Wrestling had reached a new media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery.
This was followed by the news that AEW had also agreed a huge new deal with Fox Sports Mexico.
While speaking at the post-WrestleDream press conference, Tony Schiavone expressed his excitement about both deals. Schiavone, who has been with the company since its inception, added that he’s also excited about his own future as he’s looking to continue for another four or five years.
“We’re very very excited about our renewal with Warner Brothers Discovery and Fox Sports Mexico. We’re very very excited about that. I’m personally excited that my long-time career is going to continue for at least another four to five years or so. I’m honored to be here,”
Tony Schiavone began his wrestling career in 1983, working as an interviewer and announcer for Jim Crockett Promotions.
Bobby Lashley On Verge Of AEW Debut
While Tony Schiavone will be staying with AEW, the company is on the verge of adding another former World Champion to its roster. Following the arrivals of MVP and Shelton Benjamin, it’s been reported that Bobby Lashley will be next having already signed a contract.
Since it was revealed that Lashley had signed with AEW, Dynamite’s fifth-anniversary episode and WrestleDream have been and gone. This is something that has only raised questions about when the former WWE man will debut.
However, according to Fightful Select, Lashley is “expected to debut” in the coming weeks. He was considered to debut earlier and more specifically at WrestleDream in a segment that would have likely ended with Swerve Strickland being beaten down.
However, given the show was scheduled to end with the vicious assault on Bryan Danielson, the decision was taken not to have two hometown heroes attacked at the same event.
This tied into an earlier report that noted Bobby Lashley’s debut had been pushed back.
