Popular AEW Figure Not Expected To Wrestle Again

AEW logo over HOOK and Taz

An AEW commentator will be staying at the announce desk.

In the hours before the October 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite, Taz revealed he would be missing the show after getting attacked in the parking lot.

On the show itself, Excalibur noted that Taz was beaten down by a group of unknown assailants, and had been taken to hospital for treatment on his leg. Later on, Hook swore revenge for his father, before Christian Cage hinted that he was behind the attack.

Hook has now claimed he knows the identity of his father’s attacker, and he’ll “handle it” on Dynamite.

In reality, the attack was a storyline way of writing Taz off television after he underwent knee replacement surgery. It was reported after the surgery that Taz will be “out for a while” as he recovers.

Taz Won’t Wrestle In AEW

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Taz’s broadcast partner Jim Ross said the former ECW was simply looking to improve his quality of life, rather than plot an in-ring comeback.

“When he gets healed, his job is sitting right there waiting for him. His chair will not be filled, as I understand it, until he gets back. So good for him. I know he was in a lot of pain over the years. He took a lot of bumps and had a lot of bruises and all that good stuff.

He got it fixed, and it’s not the fact he got it fixed so he could wrestle again. I don’t expect to ever see Taz in another match. He’s not interested in it, seemingly, at least that’s what he and I have discussed.

He just wanted to get out of the pain where he could have a normal life and walk like a normal human”

Meanwhile, fellow announcer Nigel McGuinness has admitted he could continue to wrestle, although he isn’t actively pushing for more matches.
