AEW Figure Claims MJF Needs More Patience

MJF AEW

A veteran in AEW wants MJF to slow down a bit.

As the youngest and longest-reigning AEW World Champion of all time, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been firmly entrenched as a main event-level performer in All Elite Wrestling.

MJF held the AEW World Title for 406 days before losing it on the second last day of 2023 to Samoa Joe. After missing over four months to recover from injuries to start 2024, MJF returned as a hero to AEW fans and even had the company logo tattooed on his leg.

The days of being a hero were done on the July 3rd episode of AEW Dynamite when MJF brutally assaulted his friend Daniel Garcia.

After being in AEW since day one over five years ago, fans know that MJF is likely more comfortable being a “devil” like heel character. Jim Ross called a lot of MJF’s matches in his career. While speaking about Max on his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross had some advice for the confident former World Champion.

“Like any other young kid, he’s got to mature, he’s got to come along, his age has got to catch up with his experience. He’s very bright, very very bright and sometimes I think that he misuses his clout.”

“He needs more patience with himself and he needs to understand that it’s not always about him, but it is more often than not. He’s really good, he’s very talented, I just think that he’s got to slow down sometimes and enjoy the journey…I don’t know how to put this but maybe sometimes he needs to take a deep breath and enjoy his journey.”

“If he did, he’d probably have a better overall experience.”

MJF Set For Huge Match At AEW Dynamite 250

This past week on AEW Dynamite, MJF did not appear in front of the Calgary crowd. Instead, he appeared seated on a chair and he did a promo on the video screen where he challenged AEW International Champion Will Ospreay to a match.

That match between MJF and Ospreay, which many people believe could headline an AEW PPV, will take place on the July 17 edition of AEW Dynamite in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The main reason why AEW is doing big matches like MJF vs. Ospreay and Swerve Strickland vs. Kazuchika Okada next week on Dynamite is because they are trying to re-sign a new TV deal with Warner Bros Discovery, so putting on huge matches is their way of trying to draw a bigger audience. The July 24th episode of Dynamite will feature the annual Blood & Guts Match.
