AEW Favorite Will Be “Out For A While”

AEW logo over HOOK and Taz

AEW Dynamite will sound a little different.

Ahead of the October 2nd edition of Dynamite, it was revealed that Taz would miss the show after being attacked in the parking lot. He was replaced at the announce desk by Nigel McGuinness.

In response to the attack, Taz wrote on social media “Those guys got me good,” adding “There is going to be hell to pay, and not by me.”

On the show itself, Excalibur noted that Taz was beaten down by a group of unknown assailants, and had been taken to hospital for treatment on his leg. Later on, Hook swore revenge for his father, before Christian Cage hinted that he was behind the attack.

Taz Taking Time Off From AEW

In recent months Taz has been open about his physical struggles, noting he needs surgery on both knees and both shoulders. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that these issues were behind Taz being written off television, explaining he’s getting knee replacement surgery.

Taz was off Dynamite this week. They announced he was attacked in the parking lot and suffered a knee injury. Hook vowed revenge. They didn’t tease who did it but did a tease of something with Christian and Hook. The story was that he was attacked and injured was a cover story because he’ll be out for a while as he’s getting full knee replacement surgery.

His knees have been bad for years. It’s been noted how much it appears he’s hurting by the way he walks around backstage and he basically confirmed that and his wife pushed him to get this taken care of. Nigel McGuinness took his place working with Tony Schiavone and Excalibur on the show.

At AEW Grand Slam, Hook presented Taz with the FTW Title belt after retiring the championship following a successful defence over Roderick Strong.
