AEW Executive Admits “Darby Allin Frightens Us”

An AEW executive had some interesting comments to say about the daredevil nature of Darby Allin.

It has been an interesting 2024 for Darby Allin and The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) since they have been part of three of the craziest matches this year.

In the main event of AEW Revolution 2024, Darby Allin and Sting beat The Young Bucks to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles in Sting’s last match. That was a Tornado Tag Team Match that saw Allin dive through a glass pane, which caused his back to bleed heavily.

At AEW Double Or Nothing, Allin was part of the Anarchy in the Arena match with The Young Bucks when Allin ended the match by being hung upside down with a rope.

The latest crazy match between Allin and The Young Bucks was the Blood & Guts match on AEW Dynamite in Nashville. That match saw Allin climb the cage above the ring and hit a Coffin Drop through a table among other things.

Matthew Jackson is not just a current AEW Tag Team Champion, but he’s also an Executive Vice President (EVP) of AEW. While talking to Sports Illustrated, Jackson spoke about the chaotic nature of Allin while also telling an interesting story of something Allin did before the double cage match on Dynamite.

“Darby is out of his mind crazy. When production lowered the cages down earlier in the day to look over everything, I heard Darby climbed to the top while he was wearing socks. He’s fearless. We’ve done some crazy things in our career, and even he frightens us.”

Part of what Matthew Jackson said there could be a case of him staying in character, but there is also likely some truth to it as well.

Darby Allin Challenging Jack Perry For TNT Title At AEW All In

The ending of the Blood & Guts Match featured Team AEW handcuffing Jack Perry of The Elite against the steel cage. Allin poured gasoline on Perry and threatened to light Perry on fire, but Jackson gave Perry what he wanted – a TNT Title match against Perry at AEW All in on August 25th. Jackson also quit to give Team AEW the victory as well.
