AEW Dynamite Match Given 5 Stars By Dave Meltzer
AEW promised a dream match on Dynamite when Kenny Omega took on El Hiji Del Vikingo and now the bout has been given critical acclaim.
The two stars engaged in one of the best quarter of an hour matches on television in quite some time with Omega eventually overcoming his opponent to pick up the win.
Some had scoffed at AEW for promising a dream match, but it seems it lived up to the hype and Dave Meltzer writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter agreed, noting that it was a five-star match.
The bout is the fifth five-star match in Dynamite history with AEW as a promotion now able to boast 20 of them, four more than WWE but still some way off the 81 5-star (and above) matches awarded to New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Kenny Omega has now moved into fifth place on his own for the most 5-star matches in history and is now just one behind Kazuchika Okada and Kenta Kobashi and three behind Mitsuharu Misawa and Will Ospreay.
The real story for Kenny Omega came after the match when he was attacked by the Blackpool Combat Club but was saved by Hangman Adam Page. However, Omega’s conniving associate Don Callis is causing issues between the former AEW Tag Team Champions as he feigned being attacked by Page to end the show.
