AEW brings the latest in a string of Holiday Special episodes tonight as it hosts the Dynamite on 34th Street special from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

The episode is filled with some amazing matches, which will see the in-ring return of former World Champion, MJF, as he gears up for his World Title clash this weekend.

The Continental Classic picks up speed tonight in New York with two blue league matches and one gold league match, as the tournament heads towards its conclusion.

Meanwhile, the ROH World Champion Bandido will battle it out with the newly crowned AEW National Champion Ricochet in the finals of the Diamond Dynamite Ring, after winning the Battle Royale last week.

Orange Cassidy and Konosuke Takeshita open the night!

The night began with a blue league match between Orange Cassidy and Konosuke Takeshita, as both wrestlers stand to earn a huge push towards the semi-finals with a win tonight.

The match started with multiple quick pin attempts from Orange, but Takeshita quickly took control of the match as he asserted his dominance.

The match then became a bit more evenly matched as Cassidy took the fight to Takeshita and gained the upper hand following a host of attacks on the Don Callis Family member.

Cassidy seemed to have won the match via a countout after sending The Apha into the crowd, but he made it in just in time and hit the Raging Fire on Orange to pick the win and seal his spot in the next round.

Roderick Strong vs Mascara Dorada was up next in the Continental Classic

The second match of the night saw the next Blue League match take place as Dorada faced Strong in a crucial match for himself. Strong, who has been eliminated from the tournament after his loss last week, has the chance to play spoilsport for Dorada tonight.

Dorada gave it his all in the match, but Strong would kick out of everything the Mexican wrestler threw at him. Strong tried his best to spoil Dorada’s chances tonight, but the CMLL Welterweight Champion emerged victorious.

He struck Roderick Strong with a superkick near the turnbuckle before following it up with a Shooting Star Press from the top rope to stay alive in the tournament with another three points.

Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter come face-to-face

The two women got into a war of words tonight ahead of their clash for the AEW Women’s World Championship at World’s End this weekend. There was no love lost between them as Hayter inadvertently hit Statlander and posed with her title.

The Women’s World Champion urged Hayter to show she deserves to win the title back at World’s End. In response, Hayter tried to hit Statlander, but her punch was blocked, leading to an intense standoff between the two.

MJF returns to in-ring action tonight

MJF took on a local talent, Dustin Waller, in his first AEW match in 95 days and made light work of the wrestler. He finished the match by hitting him with a hammerlock DDT and following it up with a submission to win the match.

The Salt of the Earth was about to cut a promo following his match, but was interrupted by Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland before he could get even a word in.

While they didn’t get in the ring at first, they made their presence known from between the crowd in the Hammerstein Ballroom. Hangman Page and Swerve made their way to the ring later on to take out MJF as the Opps Dojo came to stall them.

Samoa Joe appeared on the titantron next and stated that he would come for all three of them one by one before stating that he would retain his title at the weekend. MJF tried to take out Hangman afterwards, but was taken out by both Swerve and Hangman, who proceeded to choke MJF out with a steel chain.

Swerve then proceeded to list out all the wrestlers who came out worse after their program with MJF and claimed that he was a better human being than he would ever be, before heading backstage.

Ricochet takes on Bandido in the finals of the Dynamite Diamond Ring

The two high-flying wrestlers started the match with some technical wrestling before transitioning into the fast-paced match both of them are used to.

The winner of tonight’s match will get a shot at the AEW World Championship, making it a must-win match for either of them. The bout saw multiple near falls take place between both wrestlers.

Ricochet lowblowed Bandido behind the referee’s back, but she didn’t see and the one and only looked to take advantage. However, Bandido turned Ricochet’s attack into a surprise pin to win the match and become the holder of the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

He will face the AEW World Champion in the middle of next month now.

Marina Shafir takes on Mina Shirakawa up next

The two women got onto each other’s bad sides during the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament as Marina Shafir and Megan Byne lost to the Timeless Love Bombs in the semi-finals.

Shafir dominated much of the match as she seemed to womanhandle Shirakawa, including planting her with a one handed slam, leaving the fans stunned.

Shafir ultimately emerged victorious in the match after she choked out Mina Shirakawa. She continued the hold after the match and Toni Storm tried to rescue her partner but a swift kick to the face from Shafir saw her drop right where Shirakawa was before she walked away.

Pac faces Jungle Jack Perry in the main event of AEW Dynamite

The match between Pac and Jack Perry started their match with quite a lot of technical wrestling as both wrestlers fought it out for three crucial points. This was the first time they were facing each other and Jack Perry was putting on a show.

Pac then took control of the match after hitting Perry in the ankle that he had injured earlier in the tournament. He dominated large parts of the match during the commercial break but Jack Perry came back in the match with a flying DDT, despite being hurt on his ankle.

Pac turned the momentum with a Belly to Belly suplex into the turnbuckle before hitting the same move from the top rope. Perry showed incredible resilience to kick out from this move though, frustrating the Death Riders member.

Jack Perry did anything he could to earn the win over Pac and got the win by using his teeth on the Englishman. Pac locked in The Brutalizer on Jungle Jack Perry but he bit on his hand to get out of the move and proceeded to roll him up for a quick surprise win, earning himself a crucial three points.
