AEW Could Force Major Delay To Star’s WWE Switch

Triple H WWE Tony Khan AEW

A proposed move between AEW and WWE could get very messy.

On August 13th, Penta El Zero Miedo publicly denied he had already agreed a deal with WWE, claiming AEW is “present.” Naturally, this did little to calm speculation that both he and his real-life brother Rey Fenix will be moving to the sports entertainment giant in the coming weeks.

Fenix has already pulled out of an independent date on September 27th, while it’s been said Lucha Brothers have already received an offer from WWE after making it clear they want to leave AEW.

Meanwhile, there have been claims within AEW that the Lucha Brothers “didn’t want to do business in the appropriate ways.”

AEW Could Block Star’s Move To WWE

As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is concern that AEW could extend Fenix’s deal for potentially another year. This could, at least in theory, cause a very awkward situation as Penta has reportedly claimed his AEW deal has already expired.

There is concern now because AEW has the right to extend Fenix’s deal for another year due to time off due to injuries…

There were rumors going around he [Penta] was going to NXT or getting a physical for WWE in Pittsburgh and he’s obviously not about to do anything of the sort while under AEW contract. He just as obviously can’t have signed a WWE deal until that AEW contract expires.

It’s been reported that Penta’s denials had more to do with helping Fenix leave AEW without “contractual hurdles” than stopping the speculation.
