AEW Collision Ends Early, The Rock Arrives In Its Place

WWE The Rock in shades

Maybe The Rock really is the final boss.

AEW Collision ended in bizarre circumstances on May 17 as the TNT feed cut off 30 minutes early on both the West and East coasts. Meanwhile, fans watching on Max were met with a message reading “This event has ended.”

In an amusing twist, the final 30 minutes of the show were replaced by Black Adam starring WWE legend The Rock.

As the feeds went off, AEW boss Tony Khan posted the following message on social media.

We’re having technical problems with our studio transmission of Saturday #AEWCollision tonight! I’m sorry for the inconvenience to all of you great fans!

We’ll have the complete show up on @StreamOnMax + in its entirety on @TNTdrama West 8pm PT/9pm MT/10pm CT/11pm ET tonight!

The episode, which was taped on May 14 following Dynamite, ended before Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara vs. Action Andretti & Lio Rush, and Wheeler Yuta vs. Powerhouse Hobbs were broadcast.

The Rock’s Plan For Cody Rhodes May Never Happen

Back in WWE, it’s been reported that there are no plans for Cody Rhodes to turn heel anytime soon. According to the most recent report on his status, figures within the company have pushed back on the idea of turning Rhodes to the dark side, given his incredible popularity and impact on ticket and merchandise sales.

This appears to contradict comments from The Rock following WrestleMania, where he suggested WWE could revisit the idea that Rhodes sells him his soul.

It’s believed that heading into Elimination Chamber, Rock originally wanted the American Nightmare to turn heel, but he rejected the idea, so Cena turned heel instead.

There’s no word on if or when The Rock will return to WWE television.
