AEW Champion Thinks WWE Is Trying To “Squash” Company
WWE is looking to squash AEW.
On September 20, WWE and AEW will once again hold pay-per-view events on the same day. And not for the first time, it was the sports entertainment giant that instigated the clash.
AEW’s All Out had long been announced by the time that WWE revealed it would be holding Wrestlepalooza on the same day. As a result, Tony Khan shifted All Out to avoid a direct head-to-head, and now All Out will begin at 3PM ET.
Throughout 2025, WWE has regularly attempted to counter the competition, and it’s even been claimed that WWE could play a role in TNA Impact moving to Wednesday nights to go up against Dynamite.
During a recent interview, Bryan Danielson described WWE’s actions as “weird games,” outlining why the policy could even cost his former employer in the long run.
AEW’s Kyle Fletcher Comments On WWE Counter-Programming
While appearing on Good Karma Wrestling, Kyle Fletcher commented on the battle between the two companies, stating that WWE is looking to squash the All Elite threat. However, he noted that not only is that good business practice, but it also helps to personally give him a boost.
“Man, I think it’s good business practice from the other team. I think they’re trying to squash us.
But, for me, it puts a chip on my shoulder. I know that this Saturday, we have competition, and my goal is to go out there and have one of the greatest professional wrestling matches of all time, so that people go, oh, nothing comes even close to that, nothing comes close to AEW pay-per-views, so, yeah, that’s all it is. It lights a fire under me.
All I wanna do is go out there and do the best that I absolutely can so I can squish the other guys, you know what I mean?”
At All Out, Kyle Fletcher will challenge “Hangman” Adam Page for the World Championship. Crucially for Page, the Don Callis Family will be banned from ringside.
